Bought for a Kindle Paperwhite, easy to use, sealed so no water could get in after having an "accident" with my previous kindle in my bag. Good quality, could maybe be a little smaller and a bit more fitted to the size of the Kindle. Also a little fiddly to unlock with the button being on the bottom edge.

  11. Wonderful Product

Hadn't needed a waterproof case for the beach - I read, then I put in a Ziploc bag in my beach bag. The pool - that's another story. I always read in the pool (live in the Deep South), but it has always been limited to magazines and used paperbacks. I float amongst my playing children and their friends, so there is a lot of water flying through the air. I performed the tissue paper test, and had my son swim under water with the pouch. It stays clear, no distortion in the heat, and I only have to periodically wipe it dry from water sprays.

  18. keep phone dry
    Overall
    5 / 5

After losing a previous phone to the rain I am slightly paranoid about keeping my new phone dry hopefully more phones will be like the newer Sony models and be water resistant if not water proof. Until then I need when walking on the hills to use something like the beach buoy. The price and delivery was very good and the product gives you confidence that it will keep water and sand, dust etc out when you have inserted the phone and sealed it properly. When I first used the bag it took a little time to get my phone inside as the plastic seems to form a suction bond with anything it has contact with, this continues but fortunately less with less effect. The closing mechanism also offers assurance that it will be water tight. The materials look and behave strong and should last a long time. The down side is that it is not very flexible and good for day to day use but for long out door activities such as hiking or going on a beach it is good to have.

Great case, just used it today while on holiday in Salou in the pool with great results, was scared at first using it but did the tissue paper test first just to make sure still works (tested in sink when first got it few weeks back just to make sure wasn't faulty and passed then to) once done test again i took the leap put phone in and jumped in pool, then tested it took over 50 pictures all worked great (few blurry ones to start off with but soon got hang of taking them) would recommend it to anyone thinking of going anywhere near water and worried may get some in there phone or camera (one that doesn't expand out when zooming as wont have enough space) will be using it again when go hiking and to festivals

I plan to mainly use it to hold the Nexus for use with GPS app for emergency use in the mountains. Fits the Nexus 7 well, waterproofing looks to be well thought out and secure. Touch screen works well through the case, but you do need to ensure there are no little air bubbles trapped, as they will have an effect.

For something that does so much, it's amazing that Proporta's Stephenson Satchel looks as good as it does. I'm very used to dealing with highly functional tech - sometimes on a very basic level. Proporta's Stephen Satchel is proof that compromise isn't inevitable.

This no-compromise ethos features on more than one level. For a start this is a laptop and with features that play heavily into both.

ot this to go with my new Kindle Paperwhite (love love love it) when I take my nightly bubble bath. I can soak and read at the same time without fear of dropping my Kindle in the water. I have a bath tub shelf and stand it put it in/on, but accidents do happen. Ordered another one from the same company that I sent back. This one is much better. The Kindle Paperwhite Kindle Paperwhite, 6" High Resolution Display with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi - Includes Special Offers with the Amazon leather case Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Leather Cover, Onyx Black (does not fit Kindle or Kindle Touch) folded over will fit in snugly. There is no problem using any of the touch links on the Kindle through the case. It is small enough to take in a travel bag, since I take bubble baths in hotels too. I'm sure it would work in a swimming pool or at the beach too. Haven't tried it for that.

  30. So far, so good
    Overall
    4 / 5

I got this waterproof case so I could read my Kindle Paperwhite in the tub and take it to the beach/pool this summer without worry. I tested the case when I received it as recommended in the instructions. Securing the case is very simple. The only issue I've had with it so far is that I have to take my Kindle out of the case I usually use for it (which is pretty thin) in order to slide it in and out easily. I've been afraid to try to force the Kindle into this case with my regular case on too for fear the whole thing will get stuck. So as long as you don't mind that process, I would recommend this case for reading in or near water. The kindle still responds well to my touch when in the waterproof case.

  31. Perfect solution
    Overall
    5 / 5

Several months ago, I was sitting in the spa reading on my Kindle. It slipped out of the case and I found out that Kindle can't swim. No amount of drying, rice bags, and good wishes helped. My new "Dry Kindle" needed protection, because I like to sit in the spa and read. This one is great - easy to touch the start button on the Kindle Paperwhite. Easy to get in and out of the case. And, most importantly, does not cause glare in bright light or dim.

  32. idea & execution +++
    Overall
    5 / 5

I bought this case for my Kindle Keyboard (KK) but find it fits both KK and Kindle Paperwhite (PW). I planned to use it while soaking in my tub and also whilst paddling in my pool. Another use has occurred to me - eating, to prevent a large $ mistake from a knocked over glass. I have not used it yet in the pool, too cold, but gave it a workout in the tub with the PW.

Other cases mentioned problems with the plastic touching the screen and causing errors with the touchscreen. And having to apply some foam dots to correct problem. Check it out, most people wish the dots were unnecessary and/or had been applied by manufacturer.

I opted to avoid the dots and associated disappointment. Good choice.

pro
+fits PW & KK and others of dimensions as noted in description
+touchscreen works perfectly
+crystal clear cover
+combination ziploc and folded over velcro gives me hope my Kindle will survive a drop in pool or tub
+lanyard

negatives
-lanyard is a tad too short to hang around my neck AND read simultaneously
-not sure if I can turn on KK whilst in case (do not care)

I have RA and paddling in the pool is good for my joints. Reading helps pass the time but I have dropped multiple books in the pool and the weight of a book can often cause neck, wrist & finger pain & stiffness. I had never dared take a Kindle in the pool but now I will. Highly recommend.

Notes after end of pool season:
+NO (ZERO) leaks!!! was in pool 5-7 days/week, couple hours per, usually with Kindle in the Beachbuoy (BB). My thumbs have tendonitis but the BB is rocking on strong. My husband snagged it today to put the KK in while in the hot tub. Boohoo, meant I couldn't take out my PW so I'm buying another!
+I have slipped, dragged the whole thing under water, much more than once, and regularly keep the bottom submerged = yes, no leaks!
*a little lens cleaner sprayed on a paper towel then wiped across the top of the BB cleans away water marks and doesn't seem to damage the unit.
*put the Kindle in the BB _before_ putting on sunblock. It is a holy mess to clean up and might damage the Kindle.
*too much trapped air can make it hard to turn pages, too little and the page changes itself (PW) when submerged. But the good news is, if it's holding air, it's still watertight. Man, I feel like one of those too loud guys from informercials.
*it does drive me crazy if I can't find it.

Bottom line: if you have a Kindle that fits in the BB and you like to read in the tub, pool, whirlpool, I think the BB is a great value that delivers.

  33. Great Product/Price
    Overall
    4 / 5

    Purchased for my Kindle PW.

The item arrived from overseas a week after it was ordered (not the anticipated 2-3 weeks). I hadn't realized it was coming from out of country at first, and had contacted the seller to find out how it was being shipped. I was answered within hours, which was nice.

It works just as expected on a test run in a bubble bath. My only real complaint is the advertising; it is on all sides of the front of the product and is somewhat distracting.

The 2 snap lines that keep it waterproof were difficult for me to line up and close.. My husband had to do it for me. I'm not sure if this will be a problem in the future.

  34. BeachBuoy Waterproof Case
    Overall
    4 / 5

The case seems to work just fine. I have been using it when I use our hot tub. I did have a problem with one of the connections that came with the case. It didn't work when I tried charging the Kindle with it. It seemed to be made upside down or something and didn't connect properly. This had nothing to do with the case though. It was an extra item that came with the case.

  35. I am totally loving this WATERPROOF case for my Kindle Paperwhite!
    Overall
    5 / 5

This thing rocks!! I had high hopes of the claimed waterproof capabilities of this Proporta BeachBuoy for my Kindle, but wasn't sure how the touchscreen would fair, to be honest.

I read somewhere (maybe here on Amazon) that some had a terrible time with the touchscreen going bonkers whenever the clear material touched the display surface, but I've not experienced that issue whatsoever. The trick is in keeping enough air inside of the case/cover when you zip the thing closed. That way, there is no need for adding spacers between the Kindle device and the clear material of the cover. When you touch the Kindle screen through the clear material of the cover, air is pushed aside until you pull back your finger (or styllus), at which time the clear material rises off of the Kindle screen. The extra bonus of keeping additional air in the case/cover is that it allows the Kindle to float on the water rather than sinking to, potentially, beyond the 16ft of water depth recommended by Proporta. Be sure to carefully zip BOTH ziplocks completely...and check it, which is immediately apparent when you have the extra air in the cover.

I have my Kindle PW in a custom-fit leather folio (Leather Hard Case Cover for the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite By August Lion® - BLACK) all of the time, the one with the magnetic instant on/off switching ability built-in -- not the Amazon version, however, due to it costing much more. This folio -- when open or closed -- still very easily fits into the Proporta BeachBuoy waterproof case.

I also like the adjustable neck strap. With the leather folio cover folded behind the Kindle, i.e. the folio is open so the Kindle screen is accessible), I insert my Kindle PW upside-down in the BeachBuoy so that I can flip the bottom of the case up to read and work the touchscreen, without having to remove the neckstrap whenever I wanted to read something from my Amazon Kindle library.

I would definitely recommend this waterproof case to others. There are not many options available if you want protection from more than a handful of sand or brief splashes and drips of water, but this case/cover is absolutely waterproof to 16ft. GUARANTEED, per the manufacturer's own website.

In case you were wondering, the power button is easily accessible and visible through the waterproof case/cover even AFTER it is sealed up. You do, of course, need to open the velcro'd top and open the two ziplocks to access the micro USB port to charge and/or transfer content to/from the Kindle Paperwhite, which is no problem if you do as I described above and insert the Kindle PW upside down.

Oh, and I am so glad I didn't get the lesser expensive, waterproof cover/case (TrendyDigital WaterGuard Plus Waterproof Case with Padding for Kindle Touch , Kindle Paperwhite (Blue)) from TrendyDigital, the one with the detachable neckstrap and snap closure, and here's why...NO STICKY FOAM NEEDED for securing my Kindle properly in the waterproof case, that cannot be easily removed from the Kindle itself, and which (from viewing the pictures provided by purchasers) is not aligned easily (or attractively).

I was at the hotel pool and lounging in the jacuzzi recently (for 3 days...and it was so wonderful to have my Kindle with me) and I was not worried, not in the least bit, that my Kindle would get even a single drop of water on it with this Proporta BeachBuoy case/cover. The only problem I found with the clear material of this case/cover was that the touchscreen was difficult to navigate when there was too much water splashed onto it -- an easy fix with a swipe of my towel nearby. Later, I just put more air into the case before I sealed it shut, which also fixed this problem.

Oh, and the good folks at Proporta wanted to elbow me (an American, from across the pond) just a tad, I suppose, because they enclosed a bag of fine English tea in the shipping package, as if to say that this fine waterproof product was NOT made in the USA, but by the capable hands of BRITISH makers. Okay...got it.

  39. Keeps my old kobo and phone dry and useful at the same time, and floats
    Overall
    5 / 5

have been using this for a couple of weeks on the lake, river (in a kayak), in the bath, and at the pool. I'm completely comfortable throwing my ereader in the water in this case. It floats fine, and doesn't leak a drop. Because it's double sided, when I'm at the lake or river, I put my phone on the back facing out; and though my ereader isn't touch screen (an old Borders era Kobo) the touch screen on the phone works fine in the case (my phone's screen actually seems to respond better in the case than out) and the push buttons on my reader work fine through the plastic. I put a thin piece of foam behind my ereader to keep my phone where I want it and keep the top from folding over if I have the strap around my neck, but it floats either way. I also wove thin strips of that foam on the cord in case I do drop it in the river and need to recover it. Also, the cord isn't comfortable to hang the reader from without that extra foam thickness (could also be replaced with a camera strap, etc.). I didn't like the billboard look of the name scrawled over all edges of both sides, so I took a Sharpie permanent marker and marked out all of the wording on the side I use for my reader. The plastic on the face is a bit shiny, so my nice flat paper-like reader can be a bit more like a glossy magazine, also with occasional water spot shadows, though I don't know that there is much way around any of that and it's well worth having and hasn't scratched yet. My kobo fits well with or without a fairly thick leave-on rubberized cover with room to spare at the top, so most readers should fit. Until they make a waterproof reader, I highly recommend it.

I'm so glad I bought this cover! I love to float around my pool while reading on my kindle paperwhite and I've been doing a lot of that thanks to this. I've dropped it into the pool several times and it's completely dry inside. There is no glare on the clear plastic and its very easy to use all functions on the device right through the case and the cover never accidentally turns the page by coming into contact with the screen as I've read many other covers do. I might buy another to slip my phone into because I like this so much better than the waterproof case I bought for my phone.

  42. Good waterproof cover
    Overall

I really liked this waterproof cover and it worked for my needs. The only issues I had were it was hard to get the two seals closed to where they would stay closed and the cover made my Kindle ultra-sensitive! It was frustrating when the cover touched the screen and it would continuously turn the page. May be user error, but I have yet to figure it out.

It's a fancy zip lock bag, but does exactly what you need. At the lake or on a pool float, it keeps your Kindle dry. I recommend it.

When I turn off the kindle while it is in the beach buoy, it goes to sleep not off. I then have to remove it from the plastic turn it all the way off and put it back in. Otherwise, I really like that it is protected for the beach.

  45. best waterproof case
    Overall

I use waterproof cases frequently to protect my kindle paperwhite as I read in my pool. I have gone through a few as they keep getting warm out around the edges. This one appears to be much better made than the rest.

  46. Chillin' in the ocean, readin' my Kindle

I bought this for one purpose, I wanted to go snorkeling on Catalina Island, CA. This made that trip even more delightful. I used it while floating about 400 feet off the coast, reading my kindle underwater and on my back. It was an amazing experience and very calming/exciting to be so alone.

My Kindle had no problem afterwards with no moisture inside.

Do make sure you seal it correctly, my friend used it for a camera while on a boat trip and got moisture (only a few drops) inside due to incorrectly sealing it.

I can finally sit in my tub and read without worry. Love it. Double seals and velcro. You can put any number of devices in the bag.

Using my ipad as a chartplotter when sailing, this protects the whole thing but allows the touch screen to still work. Fab

Now this I was scared of using ;)
Entrusting my beloved kindle to the protection of a bit of plastic???
I 'tested' it as per instructions and it seemed safe enough......
Then took it on my hols and spent a lot of time around the pool - kindle remained dry an safe - so yes I would recommend it

Ok so its expensive, but it does work (proved by dropping kindle into bath by mistake and bone dry when it came out). Cheaper than a new kindle by far!

I use the View Ranger app when I am out in the hills. The BeachBuoy case is an excellent and cost effective way to protect my i phone.

I would use it for wet activities such as walking in the rain and kayaking. It would be great to have a case that would enable the phone to be used without taking it out.

It is a really good case, the only down side to it is that you have to fold it over twice, could maybe done more but apart from that its one of the best cases I've tried
