| Butter fingers: It may sound obvious, but be careful not to drop your battery. Although the Proporta almighties have designed strong casing to help protect the cells from shock, a good fall onto a hard surface could damage the cells and shorten your battery’s life. Spick and span: Battery contact points should be cleaned periodically to ensure continued reliable operation. Dirty terminals may cause your battery to lose contact with your charger or device that you are trying to power. Our suggestion is to clean ports and connector heads with a clean pencil eraser or lightly scrape the surface with a blunt instrument to help reduce any residue build-up. Safe and sound: We strongly recommend that you store your battery in a clean, dry, protected environment to minimise the risk of any physical damage, and out of the reach of children. |

| Disposal and recycling | ^ | ||
| Why recycle? It’s a sorry tale, but unfortunately most batteries end up in landfills where their hazardous material can leach into the soil and cause a lot of harm to the environment. It is much more environmentally friendly to recycle batteries in a safe, correct manner. Trust us, it’ll make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside (and that’s not because your veggies are contaminated). Batteries contain a range of metals which, when extracted, can be reused as secondary raw materials. Collection/recycling services: Some areas have a battery collection/recycling service already set up and it’s likely that many others will adopt this in the future. To find out if you live in an area with such a worthwhile service, contact your local council offices. Retail outlets: Some retail outlets (particularly mobile phone shops) collect batteries for recycling so it’s well worth keeping an eye out for these whilst shopping. Local amenity sites: Most local amenity sites have special disposal points for batteries. Safe disposal: It’s advisable as a minimum, to observe the following precautions when disposing of batteries:
